Description |
Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) assists network administrators with managing Windows Updates across their networks. WSUS provides the convenience of automation and a local source for updating the Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, and other Microsoft applications. (Note: WSUS is easily integrated with Active Directory (AD), although AD is not specifically required.) |
Who can use this service |
Although any campus student or staff member can use WSUS, the service is specifically designed for network administrators who manage a number of departmental or lab computers. The service will not work if the computers are not on the campus network (i.e., connected from a campus building, or via VPN or dialup), and therefore updating directly from Microsoft might be a better option for individuals' home computers. |
