Description

UIUCnet Wireless uses the 802.11a/b/g Wireless Ethernet standards to provide access to the campus network and the Internet without the need for wires.

Who can use this service

University faculty, staff, and students, as well as University-sponsored guests.

When the service is available for use

Supported Service Hours:
8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday

Extended Service Hours:
5:00 P.M. to 5:30 A.M. Monday through Friday
Weekends (excluding the Maintenance Hours listed below)

Maintenance Hours:
5:30 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. Monday through Friday
5:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday
5:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Sunday

(Note: University-sponsored guests must request and receive a temporary guest account.)

Cost

This is a subsidy service provided by the Provost on behalf of the campus. Individuals have access to UIUCnet Wireless at no charge. Departments can have an Access Point installed at no charge in public places and for $10.00 per month per Access Point in non-public areas.
