Description

Illinois Chat is a instant messaging (IM) service that allows University of Illinois members to securely exchange sensitive data, such as research, grades, and identity information. Illinois Chat uses XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol), an open standard commonly known as Jabber. The Illinois Chat server does not store logs of instant messages or files.

Campus faculty, staff, and students

When the service is available for use

Supported Service Hours:
Twenty-four hours a day, excluding the maintenance hours listed below

Maintenance Hours:
5:30 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. Monday through Friday
5:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday
5:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Sunday
